Nnamdi Kanu’s Family Angry Over IPOB Leader’s Continued Detention, Blasts South East Governors

The family of detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has criticized South East governors for not doing enough to secure his release.

Speaking on Friday in Umuahia during a memorial for their late parents, HRM Eze Israel and Ugoeze Sally Kanu, Prince Emmanuel Kanu expressed disappointment over the governors’ inaction, accusing them of a lack of concrete efforts.

“South East governors are not doing enough to secure the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. It’s either they are complicit or something else,” Prince Kanu stated.

He further questioned why the governors had not fulfilled the reported conditions set by President Bola Tinubu for Kanu’s release, urging them to seek an audience with the President to push for his freedom.

“The big question is: Why have they not met with Mr. President on Nnamdi Kanu? Information available to us is that Mr. President asked them to fulfill certain conditions,” he added.

The memorial event was attended by prominent Biafra elders and supporters, who reiterated calls for Kanu’s unconditional release.
