In a strategic move to enhance Nigeria’s gas sector, the NNPC Gas Marketing Ltd (NGML), a subsidiary of NNPC Ltd, and its joint venture partner, NIPCO Gas Ltd, have signed a major Gas Sale and Purchase Agreement (GSPA) with Ssonic Petroleum Ltd. The deal will see the supply of 80 million standard cubic feet (mmscf) of natural gas per day to Ssonic’s upcoming Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plant in the Lekki Free Trade Zone, Lagos State.
According to the press statement by the chief Corporate communication officer Mr Olufemi Soneye, the agreement, formalized on March 6, 2025, is set to span 20 years, ensuring a steady gas supply to the facility. This initiative aligns with NNPC Ltd’s broader agenda to drive domestic gas utilization, support industrial expansion, and promote cleaner energy solutions to combat climate change.
With this partnership, Nigeria takes another bold step toward leveraging its abundant gas resources for sustainable economic development and environmental responsibility.
