The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has unveiled a broader corporate direction aimed at transforming the state-owned energy company into a major catalyst for investment, innovation and long-term energy development across Nigeria and the African continent.

The company’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Bayo Ojulari, said the new strategy reflects a shift from the traditional role of an oil and gas producer to a more integrated organisation focused on creating an ecosystem that links finance, technology, policy, skilled manpower and markets.

Ojulari made the remarks while reflecting on NNPC Ltd.’s participation at the 2026 Nigeria Oil and Gas (NOG) Energy Week, where industry leaders, government officials, investors and global energy stakeholders gathered to deliberate on the future of Africa’s energy sector.

According to him, the company’s long-term vision is centred on building stronger partnerships capable of accelerating investment, expanding energy access and supporting sustainable economic growth across the continent.

He noted that the company’s engagements during the conference reinforced its commitment to driving collaboration throughout the energy value chain, stressing that future growth would depend on strategic alliances rather than conventional hydrocarbon production alone.

Ojulari said NNPC Ltd.’s transformation is designed to position the organisation as a platform that brings together capital, technology, policy frameworks, talent and commercial opportunities to create enduring value for Nigeria and Africa.

He added that the company’s renewed identity would serve as the foundation for deeper industry partnerships and contribute to advancing Africa’s energy aspirations.

The NNPC boss also shared highlights of the company’s activities during the week-long conference, describing the event as an opportunity to engage with key stakeholders and showcase the organisation’s evolving strategy.

The annual NOG Energy Week has become one of Africa’s leading energy conferences, attracting policymakers, regulators, international oil companies, indigenous operators, financiers and technology providers to discuss investment, energy security, gas development, decarbonisation and emerging opportunities within the sector.

This year’s conference placed significant emphasis on strengthening collaboration and attracting fresh investment as Nigeria continues implementing reforms aimed at improving the competitiveness of its oil and gas industry.

Since becoming a commercially driven entity under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), NNPC Ltd. has intensified efforts to improve operational performance, expand strategic partnerships and reinforce its role in supporting Nigeria’s energy transition agenda.

The Federal Government has repeatedly identified the energy sector as a key pillar for economic diversification and sustainable growth, with ongoing reforms targeting increased oil and gas production, greater domestic gas utilisation, improved energy security and stronger investor confidence.

As the country’s national energy company, NNPC Ltd. continues to play a central role in executing these reforms through partnerships with both local and international stakeholders while pursuing initiatives intended to strengthen Nigeria’s position as one of Africa’s leading energy investment destinations.
