Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the People Democratic Party PDP maybe sworn in as Nigeria President any time soon before the forthcoming 2023 Presidential election if the Court of Appeal Abuja rules in favour of Civil Society Observatory for Constitutional and Legal Compliance – CSOCLC who is seeking to nullify President Muhammadu Buhari victory at the 2019 Presidential elections.
You could recall that CSOCLC has long filed an appeal to throw the Buhari administration out of government over the Civil Rights group’s contention that the affidavit made by President Buhari in the 2019 general elections was false.
The three-member panel of the Court of Appeal Abuja presided by Justice Haruna Tsamani adjourned the appeal to enable the ruling administration to reconcile the issue of who is exactly representing the All Progressive Congress – APC and President Muhammadu Buhari in the case.
There was some sort of drama in court on Wednesday where two lawyers — Oluwole Afolabi and F. O. Amedu — appeared for both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Buhari. Each argued he is the genuine representative of the ruling APC and President Buhari which caused the judge to postpone the matter till May 18, 2022.
If the Incorporated Trustees of the Civil Society Observatory for Constitutional and Legal Compliance (CSOCLC) have its way in this case, Atiku Abubakar will be sworn in as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Muhammadu Buhari whose tenure was supposed to finish in May 29, 2023 will be voided, Atiku will start a fresh mandate and power will still remain in the North for a renewed eight years.
