In a fierce encounter between Kano Pillars and Plateau United in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa has scored an extra-time goal to secure a win for the home side.

He scored the goal two minutes into the added four minutes extra-time to make it 2-1 at final whistle.

Pillars came from behind to win the Matchday 10 event, after United’s opener in the 66th minutes through Gafar Saka.

Saka’s well-placed strike silenced the home crowd momentarily, leaving the home side trailing as the clock ticked down.

However, United’s hope for an away win was dashed in the 76th minute when legendary midfielder, Rabiu Ali slotted in a free-kick at the edge of the penalty area.

While he recorded his second free-kick goal and fifth goal of the league season, Ali’s curled strike into the last corder of the goalpost sends waves across the stadium as the home fans erupted in celebration.

The goal also extends his milestone as the all-time top leading goal-scorer in the competition.

The equalizer reinvigorated the teams and set the stage for a thrilling final quarter of the match, and it was Musa to the late rescue to snatch all three points of Pillars.

With his famous top-notch speed and precision, the Eagles’ captain outwittted both Plateau United’s defenders and the goalkeeper to slot in the winning goal for the four times league champions.

According to a release by Pillars media team on its official Facebook handle, the team’s Technical Adviser, Usman Sheriff Abdallah lauded his players for their resilience and tenacity during the Plateau encounter.

He described the victory as a morale booster, especially after challenging games against Kwara United and Nasarawa United, from which the team managed to collect only one point out of a possible six.

“This victory shows the fighting spirit of our team,” Abdallah said, emphasizing the importance of building on this momentum.

Looking ahead, Abdallah shifted his focus to the upcoming Matchday 11 encounter against Bendel Insurance.

He noted that the team is committed to delivering strong performances and assured fans that they are striving for consistency in their away matches.

Abdallah also extended a heartfelt appreciation to their fans who traveled from Kano to support the team, promising that brighter days are ahead once they return to their home base.

He commended the Kano State Government for its efforts in renovating the Sani Abacha Stadium, expressing optimism that the ongoing work will be completed soon, enabling Pillars to resume matches on their home turf.
