The National Rescue Movement (NRM)Political Party, The Rivers State Governorship Candidate for the 2023 elections, Ambassador Sobomabo Jackrich has assured the welfare of persons living with disabilities will be a top priority of the state government under the administration of the NRM, as it hopes to edge out the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in the state.
Sobomabo Jackrich stated this while inaugurating executives of persons with disabilities, chiefs and elders forum, and non-indigenes arms of NRM at the party’s secretariat in Port Harcourt.
He said if, given the opportunity to lead the state, his administration will set up a special trust fund with the backing of statutory laws to cater to the welfare of persons living with disabilities.
Sobomabo Jackrich who is also the leader of the sociopolitical pressure group, Network for Defense of Democracy and Good Governance – NDDGG also charged non-indigenes in the party’s fold to rally members of their various communities to embrace the message of political freedom, which the NRM represents, adding it was no longer fashionable to elect leaders based on political affiliation, but based on their track record.
The NRM governorship hopeful assured that NRM will run an all-inclusive administration if given the mandate as it was wrong to relegate nonindigenes who constitute about 40% of the total voting strength of the state from administrative affairs of the state.
On their part, leaders of the various wings of NRM – persons living with disabilities, nonindigenes, and chiefs and elders forum in their solidarity speeches all pledged their unalloyed support to actualize the party’s goal to take over the reins of leadership in the state come 2023.
