NSCDC Uncovers Illegal Oil Bunkering Site In Rivers State

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has discovered an illegal oil bunkering site in Odagwa community, Etche in Rivers State.

This is contained in a statement by the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, PRO, Babawale Afolabi on Monday in Abuja.

The PRO stated that the NSCDC Commandant-General, CG, Ahmed Audi, remained dedicated in the fight against oil theft, vandalism and economic sabotage of Nigeria’s oil sector.

Audi decried the rate of vandalism of bunkering in Odagwa community while recalling efforts by the Commandant General Special Intelligence Squad, CG’sSIS, to sanitise the area.

He said that the corps remained determined to fish out sponsors of bunkering activities and would ensure appropriate prosecution according to the extant laws of the federation.

The CG also commended the CG’sSIS Commander, Apollos Dandaura, for his remarkable and undeniable achievements in combating crude oil theft in the Niger Delta following the dismantling of over 65 illegal oil dumps in recent times.

According to him, the following items were recovered at the crime scene: large quantities of already syphoned stolen crude oil packaged in cellophane bags and kegs, materials used for refining crude oil illegally.

In addition, galvanised metal pipes in numbers, abandoned clothing and other personal effects, metal buckets amongst others, were all uncovered and dismantled.

Audi however, called on the public to continue giving the corps credible intelligence that would help nip vandalism and crude oil theft in the bud.

He assured the public of thorough investigation and prosecution of suspects arrested.
