The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has inducted 261 engineers as Fellows, urging them to uphold integrity, ethical standards, and contribute actively to national development.
Speaking at the Fellowship Conferment Ceremony on Monday in Abuja, NSE President and Chairman-in-Council, Mrs Margaret Oguntala, said the elevation recognised the outstanding professional accomplishments of the inductees and their commitment to advancing engineering and technology in Nigeria.
“I congratulate you on this noble feat. However, this honour comes with profound responsibility.
“You must uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ethics and serve as role models to the next generation of engineers,” Oguntala said.
She emphasised that the Fellowship was not only recognition of past contributions but a lifelong commitment to ethical practice.
Oguntala added that the NSE reserved the right to withdraw the Fellowship from any recipient found guilty of misconduct or actions contrary to the Society’s values.
Urging the new Fellows to carry the NSE banner with pride and purpose, Oguntala called on engineers to support national efforts, especially in infrastructure development.
She noted that the NSE was collaborating with key public and private sector players to drive sustainable progress.
Also speaking, Chairman of the Board of Fellows, Maliki Kamila, described the Fellowship as the highest professional recognition within the NSE and a call to greater responsibility.
“Each of the 261 inductees has undergone a rigorous and transparent selection process.
“They have demonstrated leadership, excellence, and integrity,” Kamila said.”
Kamila encouraged the new Fellows to promote engineering education, research, and innovation across the country.
Responding on behalf of the inductees, Ms. Jennifer Adighije, Managing Director and CEO of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), thanked the NSE for the honour and pledged continued dedication to national development.
