NSF: WE’RE LEAVING NO STONE UNTURNED TO HOST A MEMORABLE GAMES – ISIAKA

The State Government is leaving no stone unturned to host a memorable and befitting National Sports Festival as preparation hits top gear.

The Commissioner for Sport Development, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka, who stated this while fielding questions from journalists, after an inspection tour of facilities at the Alake Sports Centre and MKO Abiola stadium, submitted that the facilities were not just for National games, but for the development of sports in the state.

He revealed that after the NSF, the state would look at the possibility of hosting National and International Sporting Competitions and Tournaments, saying the current administration would ensure that the facilities being constructed would stand the test of time.

Hon. Isiaka, accompanied by the contractors, said they were working hard to meet the deadline in line with the instructions and technical advice of the Main Organising Committee during their last visit to the State.

He noted that, the facilities would not only be the best in the country, but also a basis to nurture and develop young talented athletes that would replace the ageing ones, submitting that, the State Government would develop sports from the grassroot, as lots of talents abound there.

“We have a virile and agile scouting system at the Alake Sports Center where we discover talents from time to time. At the last National Youth Games, we went with lots of secondary school students that now have National exposure. We will nurture them to stardom,” he said.

The Commissioner also reiterated the State Government’s desire to give opportunities to Ogun indigenes in the areas of participation and the selection of athletes, saying the NSF would be a moment for the state to shine and show the world of the abundance of talents, potentials and hospitality available in the State.
