Owerri West , Imo State Nigeria was shutdown Monday 20th April, 2025, at the grand civic reception and thanksgiving service held in the honour of an Oforola Born politician and the back-to-back Majority leader, Imo State House of Assembly IMHA , Rt Hon Chief Kanayo Onyemaechi -Egbe.
9News Nigeria reports that the Majority Leader Imo State House of Assembly IMHA, Rt Hon Kanayo Onyemaechi was hosted by the traditional rulers, the president generals and all the affiliate bodies of his aboriginal clan, Oforola Mbamitolu (9) in Owerri West local government of Imo State Nigeria.
The event took place at the community central school playground Oforola featuring dignitaries from all walks of life in Owerri West and Imo state at large.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the occasion and the first local government chairman of Owerri West, Barrister Bethel Nzimako, stated that the celebrant’s relationship with the executive has brought the needed coordination and presence of Shared prosperity government in Owerri West and told the Oforola people to appreciate the Governor Hope Uzodinma’s administration for locating their own humble and hard working son to serve as a back-to-back majority leader in the history of Imo politics.
While reeling out his profile, the chairman organizing committee, Engr surveyor Nnoshiri Stanley told Ndi Imo that Kanayo Onyemaechi has done a lot to bring progress in Oforola which included, roads, opening of bore holes, empowerment of women and youths, building of civic Hall and renovation of schools amongst others.
The people of Oforola through the committee Chairman, Stanley Nnoshiri had earlier requested for more attraction of developmental projects in Oforola and Owerri West at large , since the Oforola people has been good supporter of All Progressives Congress APC government under His Excellency Dr Hope Odidika Uzodinma CON.
The special guest of honour , Rt Hon Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu , Imo state deputy speaker IMHA told the people that Kanayo Onyemaechi is not only the back-to-back majority leader 9th and 10th House but an active principal officer of the Assembly and a stabilizer in IMHA.
Amara Iwuanyanwu added that Chief Onyemaechi has been the chairman House committee on lands for barely six (6) yrs and chairman ethics and privilege committee IMHA till date. The Deputy speaker led other members of the House of Assembly to the occasion and unanimously agreed to convey the message of the majority leader for the IMHA to present his bill on the building of an international market in Oforola to the Governor for speedy approval and passage to consolidate the APC party compliance and followership in Oforola.
In the thanksgiving service at , Christ Anglican Church Oforola, while good hearted politicians and friends and relatives that accompanied Chief Onyemaechi were making donations, Vicar ,Ven Ozichukwu Nzeakor, reminded the majority leader (Egbe) of the needed importance to extend his benevolence to the mother church in the area (Christ Anglican Church) alongside other churches in the entire Oforola neighborhood.
A minute silence was observed for Late Mr Sabinus Ogbonna who according to Hon Kanayo Onyemaechi helped in the race of Owerri West political survival to install the majority leader and stabilize the polity during his life time on earth.
While thanking the church and the guest the wife of the majority Leader, Madame Onyemaechi said it was a journey that started just like a joke, and later grown to this high height of celebration and thanksgiving to God.
Accordingly, “In this political race is only God. God has been helping my husband and I in this race as our only source of help and comfort, Mrs Onyemaechi hinted.
She added that, “Storm and wind has come and God has shown us mercy . She however prayed for a continued peace and unity among Owerri West politicians at every level of politics and leadership.
Thanking the Oforola people, the entire Owerri West and the body of Christ for such a successful support on this journey in politics, madam Onyemaechi opened up that “The beginning has just begun and more Honours are yet to come to the benefit of the people”
In furtherance, Surveyor Lister Okpe -Ebekuo Dike Owerri West also added his voice in thanking the vicar, Ndi Owerri West and all the title holders and traditional rulers present in the civic reception thanksgiving. Sighting one of the most great Masters of politics in Imo state who doubles as the political Boss to the celebrant, Chief Jerry Alagboso for witnessing the thanksgiving, Lister Okpe promised a continued relationship with the majority leader to redeem Owerri West.
Explaining Further on the protocol established by late ndaa Sabinus Ogbonna, Lister Okpe emphasized more on his unwavering efforts, goodwill and sagacity in the uniting race of Owerri West politics.
Okpe ,while making his donations to the church, said he has a lot of responsibilities in this Egbe’s political race handed down to him by late Sabinus Ogbonna and on that premise, he re-affirmed his love for the majority leader Kanayo Onyemaechi.
More cash donations came from the following dignitaries to support Onyemaechi’s thanksgiving for the uplift of the Church which included, Elder Antony Ajoku Taco, Owerri West GLOs, New vision political platform, Vice chairman Owerri West local government council Prince Osinachi Amako (NO VEX), Fmr Eight (8) years House of Reps Member- Chief Jerry Alagboso who told Owerri West the high level of trust he had in Kanayo Onyemaechi many years ago till date without visiting his community or house for the first time until date.
The Executive Chairman of Owerri West Hon Victor Osuigwe (IKEOHA), SECLOG Dr Fidel Onyeneke , Barr Jaja , Councilors from respective wards in the local government council, alongside other personalities made respective inputs to the success story of the civic reception cum thanksgiving service of Chief Kanayo Onyemaechi as 9News Nigeria reports.
In his response, Hon Onyemaechi and wife, poured out their immense good heart and thanked every guests at the occasion. Onyemaechi also sent a special thank you message to the head of Legislative department IMHA and his House of Assembly IMHA Honourable colleagues for showing presence in full support.
Some dignitaries who spoke with 9News Nigeria expressed satisfaction on the performances and legislative ability of the Majority leader Kanayo Onyemaechi at the floor of the House of Assembly IMHA.
Adding that Hon Onyemaechi’s super performance led to his return as the back-to-back majority leader of both the 9th and 10th House IMHA and since then , Egbe eji eje ogu has doubled his unwavering legislative prowess to satisfy the people of his constituency and the Imo people at large.
Recall that there was special rendition by women group led by Hon Mrs Okpo, display of traditional dance groups, showcase of parades by several vigilant security outfits, Igba Ndi Eze from Nekede ward (7) seven alongside other outdoor attractions and a red carpet reception was captured by 9News Nigeria.
