He appealed to the State Government and the contractors on site to hasten work on facilities yet to be completed, adding that a lot still needs to be done before the commencement of the festival on the 12 of May, 2025, giving a 95 percent pass mark to the State Government for the massive upgrade.
“I am happy to have come from Abeokuta with what I am seeing here today, and during my tenure as the Chairman, House Committee on Youth and Sports, I am happy that this is happening.
We are assured that the name; Babcock University, will be ready to accommodate the athletes. We are only concerned about the transportation to and fro the university to the various venues, as well as the security of the hostels. We urge the State Government to make these requests available before the commencement of the games, so as to have a seamless festival,” he said.
In a separate interview, Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka, revealed that the magic wand behind the new look of the stadia was the vision of Governor Dapo Abiodun-led administration, noting that his administration remains committed to the development of sport in the State. He added that, sporting activities have been sure ways of taking the youth off social vices and drug abuse.
“When we resumed office, we were given a template to work on and that is what we have been implementing. You have seen the level of progress at the different stadia, and I can tell you that we are fully prepared and ready to host the National Sports Festival,” he said.
