The Student Parliamentary Council under the Speakership of Rt.Hon. Bankole Maliq p.k.a Aluta Revival wish to convey it’s stand as regard the Students demonstration which trails the unfortunate demise of Yussuf Maleek a Student of computer Engineering Department
We are saddened and bereaved by the untimely demise of one of our students who lost his live in the course of charting a pathway for himself while hoping for a better tomorrow. We deeply commiserate with the family of Yussuf Maleek and also share in their grief. May Almighty God make paradise his final abode. Amen
Consequently, we understand the pain and grievances of our teeming students, we know how it feels to lose a friend, a brother, and a colleague and as such we reiterate our firmness in ensuring that justice is done and his family is duly compensated.
In addition, a list of 25 demands were tabled before the school management which includes but not limited to construction of speed breakers in front of school gate, construction of Motorcyclist shield to avoid overcrowding, provision of a well equipped school clinic to effectively and adequately respond to emergency etc. We are pleased to inform you that the school management has completed the construction of speed breakers and also the construction of Motorcyclist shield on on going and we hope to see the rest of our demands being met.
In the light of the above said, we appreciate the Students Leaders and Comrades who stood gallant to demand for change and ensure measures are put in place to forestall future reoccurrence of the unfortunate incidence. We also appreciate Comr. Adeyemi Azeez the SA to the Governor on Students Matters prompt intervention to douse the tension and ensure the matter does not escalate further.
Lastly, we wish to further pacify students to back down and suspend the ongoing protest as the management has shown willingness to dialogue with the Students Union Executive (SUG) and departmental heads which is slated to hold today Tuesday, 11/11/2020. The outcome of the meeting will be further communicated to the Students through the student Union Government (SUG)
