It was all joy, gladness with smiley face to the residents of Moriwi Kingdom after 108 years as Ogun appoints Oba James Olusegun Taiwo as the Maiden Alale of Moriwi Kingdom Olufemiloye Oniyunku 1.
This is the first time the town would be administered by a recognised king since it was founded by Baale Salako in 1914
Some of the villagers came around 5am to celebrate with the King for the long awaited day that came to reality. They danced and sang in front of the King.
The State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, represented by the commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Afolabi Afuape, said his administration would not allow the traditional stool of any community to be vacant for too long.
There was no doubt about it as the residents of the community shows their hearts of gratitude and happiness by shouting when Oba James was presented the Power of Staff by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Afolabi Afuape.
It was just as if the community have been in a long time bondage and they got free.
According to Oba James, “I appreciate the Governor for the trust reposed in him, promising to discharge his responsibilities with the fear of God, equity, fairness, and justice.
He stated that the Federal and State Governments to urgently construct Abeokuta-Imeko Moriwi – Okeagbede- Okuta Wasinmi- Iwoye- Jabata road in order to bring rapid developments to Moriwi land and its environs.
He finally stressed that ” I promise to lead and discharge my constitutional responsibilities with the fear of God, Equity, Fairness and Justice shall be my watchwords. I accept to be the servant leader that you all shall be proud of”. All this was said during the Acceptance speech.
