Former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha has hailed a court judgment in his dispute with Governor Hope Uzodimma over the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary for Imo West, saying the ruling has vindicated him.

Okorocha described the judgment of the Federal High Court, Abuja which declared him as the lawful winner of the primary, as a resounding victory for the nation’s Judiciary and the Nation’s constitution.

Special Adviser on Media to Okorocha, Sam Onwuemodo made the disclosure in a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday.

Okorocha has dragged the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, and some others seeking a declaration that he is the authentic candidate of the party for Imo West Senatorial District.

The APC declared Uzodimma as the winner of the Senate primaries which Okorocha challenged at the federal high court.

Okorocha alleged that irregularities in the senatorial primary results formed part of the dispute, claiming that entries across the 12 local government areas were made by one person.

He also questioned discrepancies between ward-level results and figures recorded at the local government collation stage, alleging that some ward results sheets contained no scores despite figures appearing in collation results.

The former governor said he remained silent while the allegations of forgery circulated, choosing instead to await the court ‘s decision. He urge the police to investigate those responsible for any forged documents rather than target people he described as innocent.

“The police should go after those who forged and not go to innocent man who presented a document”, he said.

Okorocha described the judgment as a sign that justice was not for sale, adding that it would restore confidence in the Judiciary.

The former Governor thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing the enabling environment for the Judiciary and other institutions to function for the nation’s rapid development and growth.

Okorocha thanked the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for having exceptional regard and respect for members of the party, to pursue their legitimate goals and Constitutional rights, unhindered.

The former Governor also thanked Imo people especially from Imo West senatorial district for their prayers, moral and emotional supports, and the spontaneous jubilation over the court verdict, adding that he won’t take the celebration and excitement for granted.

He specifically commended Governor Uzodimma for “being part of the historic judgment as one of the respondents in the matter”, while expressing gratitude to God Almighty for victory.
