
Minister for Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, today, inaugurated the 6th session of the Nigerian Youth Parliament at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja, with a charge to the young parliamentarians to be good ambassadors of young people from their various States and Constituencies.
The Minister in his keynote address, recognized the leadership capacity and potentials of Nigerian youth, stating that one of the objectives of the Ministry of Youth Development is to discover and support as many young people as possible to use their talents for the progress of the country.
Olawande also noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is optimistic about youth inclusion, reason he promised the youth demography 30% inclusion rate in the present administration; a promise he has fulfilled and even surpassed.
While addressing the newly inaugurated 109 members of the NYP, he challenged the young parliamentarians to use the opportunity available to them to make impact and ensure that the interests of the Nigerian youth are well protected.
The Minister also implored them to learn and invest in engaging with youth organizations in their constituencies, while expressing great expectations from them as they commence their two-year tenure today.
The Nigerian Youth Parliament, which is a flagship program of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development; was inaugurated in August 2008 by the late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua.
