We have taken notice of the baseless and politically motivated attacks made by Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, against Governor Bala Mohammed.
It is clear that these claims lack factual backing and are part of a deliberate effort to discredit a leader who has continuously worked to bring positive changes to the people of Bauchi State.
(1) Governor Bala’s Dedication to Education: Under the leadership of Senator Bala Mohammed, Bauchi State has made great progress in tackling the issue of out-of-school children. His administration has successfully enrolled over 500,000 out-of-school children back into education within two years, through initiatives like the “Back to School” campaign.
This campaign has received strong backing from traditional leaders, educational stakeholders, and the Governor’s office, it highlights the Governor’s commitment to improving education and providing better opportunities for the youth of Bauchi.
(2) Noteworthy Achievements Across Key Sectors: Governor Bala’s tenure has seen significant advancement in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and agriculture. His administration has facilitated the construction of thousands of classrooms, the rehabilitation of schools, and made substantial investments in healthcare, such as the Universal Health Coverage program.
These efforts are aimed at providing the people of Bauchi with quality education and healthcare, thus improving their quality of life.
(3)False Claims of Financial Mismanagement and Land Seizure: The allegations made about financial mismanagement and the seizure of land in Bauchi are entirely false. Governor Bala Mohammed’s administration is known for its transparency and responsible use of resources.
The funds allocated to the state have been effectively utilized to support development projects that benefit all citizens, from rural farmers to city dwellers. These accusations from Tuggar are groundless and serve only to divert attention from the Governor’s substantial achievements.
(4)Political Agenda Behind the Attacks: It has become evident that Yusuf Tuggar’s attacks on Governor Bala Mohammed are not motivated by genuine concern for the welfare of Bauchi State, but by political pressure from higher authorities.
It is likely that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has instructed Tuggar to target Governor Bala Mohammed as part of a strategy to weaken political rivals and bolster his own ambitions ahead of the 2027 elections.
These politically driven attacks reflect a sense of desperation from those seeking power through manipulation and false accusations.
(5) Governor Bala Mohammed’s Legacy of Public Service: Governor Bala Mohammed continues to be a symbol of progress for Bauchi State. His leadership remains focused on the development and well-being of the state’s residents. Despite these baseless attacks, Governor Bala will stay committed to his people, prioritizing real issues and genuine progress over engaging in politically motivated distractions.
Ambassador Tuggar’s unfounded accusations cannot alter the fact that Governor Bala Mohammed is fulfilling his promises to the people of Bauchi.
We urge President Tinubu to reconsider instructing his ministers to attack capable and progressive leaders like Governor Bala Mohammed, as it only undermines the values of good governance and public service that Nigerians deserve.
