Catholic Cardinal John Onaiyekan has urged Nigerians to reject corruption, electoral malpractice and other forms of institutional failure undermining the country’s development.

In a video circulating widely on social media, the cleric warned citizens against accepting systemic failures as normal.

Onaiyekan said Nigerians should not resign themselves to a situation where wrongdoing occurs without consequences.

“We should refuse to agree that this is Nigeria where nothing works, where certificates are forged and it’s okay, where elections are rigged and you’re told to go to court. These things have consequences,” he said.
