LAGOS (9News) – The family of one of one of the four landlords who were kidnapped by unknown armed men were greeted with joy and happiness as their father and bread winner of the family returned home early Tuesday morning.
The return has created hope and fear within the community due to the fear that the kidnappers may come after the escaped victim. So far, the victims families have vacated their houses to unknown locations.
The Isheri North community were in panic after a group of armed assailants stormed the area and whisked away four men who were later revealed to be landlords in the community.
The assailants had waylaid the four landlords as they were jogging around the community at about 8 am Sunday morning. The gunmen had fired some gun shots in the air before taking off with the kidnapped victims in a boat via a canal.
The Zonal Police in control of Isheri community had since the incident vowed to unravel the mystery of the kidnap and rescue the victims. The police requested the cooperation of the community and said they must apply professionalism in handling the matter in order to avoid unnecessary casualties.
Meanwhile, the police have confirmed that they did not contribute in the event that led to the return of the escaped landlord.
The escaped landlord refused to give any detail account about his ordeal and how he was able to escape, but some of the residents in that community suggest that huge amount of ransom was paid to secure the released of the landlord who returned to the community early Tuesday morning on a boat by the canal.
