The Special Adviser/General Manager Owerri Capital Development Authority, OCDA, Engr. Francis Chukwu has mediated and resolved the disagreement between staff of the Agency and Point of Service,(POS) Operators in the Capital City.
Speaking with the Executives of the Association led by Mohammed Olatunji, the General Manager opined that the essence of the meeting is to create a working relationship between them and the State Government Agency.
In maintaining the policy thrust of the 3R Administration led by His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodimma,Chukwu suggested the need for all members of the Association to be revalidated by the Agency,as well as an approved design outlet.
“Much as your POS business is very strategic and helpful in terms of accessing money and making deposits too, operating Shanties is not good and shouldn’t be encouraged. Not only that it defaces the capital city, it is also dangerous as it exposes you people to avoidable dangers such as accidents, attacks by armed robbers and so on”. So said the OCDA boss
He implored them to cooperate with Government and leave the roadside areas where they have mounted Shanties and other structures and move to the Imo State Government designated areas.
In his response, the leader of the Association Mohamed Olatunji, emphasized that the group wants to be on same page with State Government in carrying out their daily business to avoid harassment,as he assured of their cooperation while thanking the OCDA General Manager for welcoming them in his office.
