Abuja, Nigeria – The Orji Uzor Kalu Foundation, in partnership with the Government of the People’s Republic of China, is pleased to announce the successful departure of the fifth batch of participants in its Academic and Social Skills Development Program.
The latest beneficiaries of the program—three outstanding individuals from Abia North Senatorial Zone—departed Nigeria on September 16, 2025, and are scheduled to arrive in Beijing today, September 17, to attend a Senior Management Seminar on Marine Biodiversity Conservation for Developing Countries. The seminar is hosted by the Fujian Institute of Oceanography in China.

The selected participants are: Nnenna Anthonia Onoh– Arochukwu Local Government Area; Kelechi Paul Uche – Bende Local Government Area; Victor Chigozie Etie – Umunneochi Local Government Area.
The intensive seminar aims to provide participants with advanced knowledge in marine biodiversity conservation, foster international collaboration, and promote innovation and productivity in environmental sustainability sectors.
Founder and Chairman of the Foundation, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, emphasized the importance of the partnership between Nigeria and China in promoting human capital development.
“The Orji Uzor Kalu Foundation believes that this training will create room for increased collaboration, innovation, and productivity.
“We are committed to empowering young Nigerians with the knowledge and skills needed to drive national and global development,” said Senator Kalu.
The Foundation also expressed its deep appreciation to President Xi Jinping of China and the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Yu Dunhai, for their continued support and commitment to strengthening educational and cultural ties between both nations.
“The Chinese government has remained a steadfast partner in progress. Their sponsorship of skill-enhancing programs like this highlights their deep friendship and strategic cooperation with Nigeria,” Senator Kalu added.
