Osun bye-election: Adeleke’s victory means Isiaka didn’t die in vain – Fayose

The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, on Monday said the victory of Ademola Adeleke in the Saturday’s Osun West senatorial be-election is an indication that the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke did not die in vain.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had declared Adeleke winner of the poll. (http://dailypost.ng/2017/07/09/pdp-vs-apc-adeleke-beats-hussain-win-osun-west-election-full-result/

Reacting to Adeleke’s victory, Fayose in a statement in Ado-Ekiti on Monday through his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, said the late Isiaka would be happy wherever he is, adding that Ademola should see his victory as a call to service.

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Governors’ Forum said, “This victory is an invitation and a call to serve your state, Nigeria and mankind. After election, what should come next is how to bring dividends of democracy to the people.

“How to continue with the legacy of the Adeleke family which accounted for the love displayed by the people for you and which translated to the electoral victory.

“You are responsible to all your constituents without discrimination of any sort. Having been born to a family of great politicians, with your father serving as a senator in the Second Republic, ‎your elder brother being a former governor and senator, no doubt you must have undergone political tutelage that you should put to practice to excel in your new calling.”

Fayose also commended his Osun State counterpart, Rauf Aregbesola, for conceding defeat.

Describing Aregbesola as an epitome of democracy, Fayose said such quality was rare among politicians.

“If it were some politicians that we know, they will still be licking their wounds three years after being woefully beaten in an election,” he stated.
