The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has deployed the INEC Voter Enrollment Device (IVED) to communities in Osun for  second phase of  the Continuous Voter Registration (CRV) ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC in Osun, Dr Mutiu Agboke made this known on Monday during the INEC CRV second phase extended stakeholders meeting in Osogbo.

Agboke said the second phase of the CVR commenced on Jan. 5 and that it was  scheduled to run till April 17.

“Let me quickly intimate you that the current phase two  of this CVR has come with a unique and far-reaching benefit with the approval of a 50-day rotational deployment of the IVED among the scattered communities in each council,  subject to stakeholders’ endorsement.

“This innovation has significantly deepened grassroots inclusion by bringing voter registration services closer to eligible citizens, particularly those in the remote and underserved communities,” he said.

He said the deployment of the IVED would enhance more accessibility, and  reduced transportation costs for prospective registrants

He said it would also decongest registration centres, leading to improved efficiency and better service delivery.

“By anchoring this process on stakeholders’ endorsement at the local government level, the arrangement has also strengthened transparency, local ownership and collective responsibility for the success of the exercise,” he said.

He said the IVED  would not only boost public confidence in the registration process but also reinforce INEC’s commitment to credibility, inclusivity, innovation and intuition aimed at easing CVR exercise for the public.

He, however, emphasised that the CVR exercise remained free of charge

He admonished the public to report any attempt at extorting them or any form of misconduct to the commission through established channels.

He said the voter registration exercise is not a contest among political parties but a national civic responsibility.

He urged political parties, candidates, and their supporters to allow peace to reign before, during, and after the CVR exercise.
