A prominent figure of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Lafia/Obi Federal Constituency, Nasarawa State Dr Iliyasu Mamman Anzaku, has resigned his membership of the embattled opposition party.

According to reports, Anzaku dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP.

This is coming barely a week after Nasarawa High Court sitting in Doma halted the Congress of the party at all levels following an ex parte motion filed by some members of the opposition party.

The party, according to reports didn’t adhere to the order of the Court and conducted its Ward congress. This, some members feared could leave the party without candidates for the 2027 general elections in the state.

Meanwhile, the Court has extended its order restraining the party from conducting its congresses.

The presiding Judge Abdullahi Hassan Shams extended the order on Thursday and adjourned the matter to Tuesday October 8th, 2024 for continuation of hearing.
