Leaders and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State have expressed support for the newly appointed caretaker committee of the party in the state.
In a meeting in Abakaliki, the state capital, the party leaders thanked the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party for appointing the caretaker committee led by Chief Ekuma Emmanuel.
They noted that the action has restored hope and cohesion in the party in the state ahead of the 2027 general election.
In his remarks, the 2023 deputy governorship candidate of the party, Senator Paulinus Igwe Nwagu, said with the appointment of the caretaker committee, the PDP in the state was ready to rebuild its house.
He opined that the PDP cannot die, noting that it is now clear that true leadership of the party has finally arrived.
Southeast National Vice Chairman of the party, Chidiebere Egwu, lauded the stakeholders for their steadfastness, which he said has strengthened the party.
On his part, the Caretaker Chairman, Chief Ekuma Emmanuel, expressed happiness over the overwhelming support the committee has received from party leaders and members.
He assured party members that the caretaker committee was ready and committed to ensuring that it discharges its mandate ahead of the 2027 general election.
“We are here today to dialogue, interface and draw strength and inspiration from you so that we can succeed in this task.
“We, therefore, will be calling on all of us here to be open-minded; frank, but respectful; direct but measured in making our contributions and suggestions for the way forward,” he stated.
He described the 2023 governorship candidate of the party in the state, Chief Ifeanyi Odii, as a man of integrity and pillar of the party in the state.
The meeting attracted leaders of the party from the 13 local government areas of the state.
