As the local government election draws near, the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission, PLASIEC, has stressed the need for professionalism reporting by Journalists in the forthcoming local government election.
Chairman of PLASIEC, Mr Philip Cishak made the appeal during a one-day workshop for Journalists and media practitioners in Jos, saying it is crucial to not inflame tempers in the line of duty but maintain accuracy and balance.
The keynote lecturer and speaker, Professor Sarah Lwahas, says there is need to ensure the security and safety of Journalists at all times as they are fast becoming an endangered species in the society.
In a related development, the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Honourable Gabriel Kudangbena Dewan is calling on all political parties and actors to shun desperation and inflammatory comments during campaigns ahead of the local government election.
He made the call at the Young Progressives Party, YPP, campaign flag-off in Jos, where he expressed optimism that PLASIEC would deliver a credible exercise.
