A heartbreaking account has emerged from recent attack on Kawei community in Mushere District of Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State, where gunmen reportedly killed a pregnant woman inside a hospital labour room.
The survivor, Daniel Nanle, recounted that his younger sister, Larai Danjuma, had been taken to Primary Health Centre after going into labour and was preparing to give birth when the attackers stormed the facility.
According to reports, the gunmen launched the attack on Sunday night while residents were asleep, leaving at least 22 people dead, including health workers, security personnel, patients receiving treatment, and other community members.
Speaking during a condolence visit by Plateau State Deputy Governor, Ngo Josephine Chundung Piyo, Nanle narrated the painful loss of his sister.
“My immediate sister was married to Mr. Danjuma Damial. She was taken to the hospital because she was due for delivery. Unfortunately the attackers came and killed her, he said.
The grieving brother appealed to both the Plateau State Government and the Federal Government to take urgent action to end the recurring violence and prevent further bloodshed.
“I am appealing to the state government and the Federal Government to intervene”, he added.
The latest attack has once again raised concerns over the persistent insecurity in parts of Plateau State, with residents calling for stronger security measures to protect vulnerable communities and prevent further tragedies.
