Following the attacks on government officials in Bukuru community of Jos South Local Government Area (LGA), of Plateau State, last Monday, theJos South LGA chairman, Hon Peter Vwang-Dung has said nothing can stop the enforcement of an Executive Order enacted by Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang aimed at sanitizing the State from street traders.

Recall that Monday, one person was killed, and several properties including cars and buildings and other valuables set ablaze by hoodlums, who threw stones and other dangerous weapons at government task-force who were mandated to ensure the implementation of Jos City Renewal Policy of the Governor.

Though peace has finally returned to the community, the Jos LGA chairman reacting to the development, said, Government cannot be intimidated by miscreants.

Vwang-Dung who spoke with journalists on Wednesday in Jos, emphasized that Jos City Renewal has come to stay irrespective of those who want to flaunt the order.

“Executive Order is a law and nobody can challenge it. The 003 Executive Order enacted by the Governor must be implemented. It has come to stay and the Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMDB), will work to ensure that the Order must be achieved.

“As a Government we cannot be intimidated, so miscreants should have a rethink and anyone caught igniting violence will be sorry and will be made to face the full waite of the law”, he said.

The LGA chairman lauded security agencies who were mobilized to restore peace in the affected area.

9News Nigeria correspondent reports, that the violence orchestrated by the hoodlums followed the signing of an Executive Order by the Governor, to control illegal erection of buildings, street trading and traffic in the State.

According to the General Manager if JMDB, Hart Bankat, who announced Executive Order No 003, 2024, said it became imperative , considering the indiscriminate manner in which buildings were being erected with traffic control abysmally degenerated within the Greater Jos Master Plan.
