Jos — The Plateau State Police Command has arrested a 19- year-old man, Abba Ahmed, in connection with armed robbery in New Legislative Quarters in Jos North Local Government Area.
The incident occurred on July 6, 2026, when a motorcyclist was reportedly shot in the back and robbed of his Jincheng motorcycle.
The suspect was arrested following an intelligence-led operation by detectives from the Nasarawa Gwom Police Division.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Alfred Alabo, the victim was attacked by unidentified assailant who allegedly shot him in the back before fleeing with his Jincheng motorcycle, popularly known as “Rubber-Rubber”.
The statement said that following a distress call, detectives from the Nasarawa Gwom Police Division immediately mobilized to the scene and rushed the injured victim to Bingham University Teaching Hospital, Jos, where he received medical treatment.
The police said detectives, acting on credible intelligence, subsequently arrested Ahmed, a resident of Filling Sukuwa, Jos, at Lere in connection with the incident.
The suspect was reportedly found in possession of the stolen motorcycle, while efforts were ongoing to recover the firearm allegedly used in the attack and establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to the police, the suspect has been transfered to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Jos, for discreet investigation, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other possible suspects.
The Acting Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command, DCP Usman Sheikh Adamu, reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious persons and activities to the police.
