Plateau Police Arrest Woman For Alleged Sex Trafficking Ring

Plateau State Police Command has arrested a woman, identified as Peace John, for allegedly operating a sex trafficking ring from Nigeria to Ghana.

The arrest was announced by the State Commissioner of Police, Olugbemi Adesina, during a press briefing on Monday.

According to the Commissioner of Police, the 20 -year-old suspect, who specializes in child trafficking was apprehended at the Bukuru Low-Cost area in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, following a tip-off.

“On June 14, 2024, at about 3pm, the Plateau State Police Command arrested Peace John, female, 20-yeaar-old, Behind Redeemed Church, Bukuru Low-Cost, in connection to a case of human trafficking”, Adesina said.

The victims were reportedly rescued from Ghana and repatriated to Nigeria.

However, during interrogation, they revealed that the suspect had lured them to Ghana for sexual exploitation.

The suspect is currently in Police custody, and an investigation is ongoing at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
