The Plateau State Police Command has clarified that it is not involved in the Investigation of the alleged N180 million fraud linked to Social Commentator Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), and his NGO.

This follows claims by VDM in a video shared on his social media platforms, where he alleged that hackers had stolen the funds from his NGO’s account and one suspect had been arrested in Jos.

In a statement, DSP Alabo Alfred, the spokesperson for the Plateau State Police Command, emphasized that the matter had not been reported to the Command and does not fall under their jurisdiction.

“The matter is not reported to us, we are not the ones handling the matter because crime was not committed within our jurisdiction. If he said he is coming to Jos, that does not mean that we are the one handling the case. The crime happened in Abuja”, he said.

The spokesperson further clarified that If the case had been reported to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (CID) or the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, those agencies would be responsible for the investigation. However, If they need to come to Jos for part of their Investigation, they can coordinate with officers here and report back to their base”, he added.

VDM’s video, posted on December 26, has stirred heated discussions online, with many questioning the Police’s role and the jurisdictional aspects of the case.

Calls for transparency and accountability have been mounting, as the public seeks more clarity on the unfolding situation.
