Plateau Re-run Elections: INEC Suspends Officer Over Missing Ballot Papers

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has suspended the Electoral officer for Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, Fred Ogboji, over alleged missing ballot papers deployed for last Saturday re-run elections for Plateau North Senatorial District and Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency.

9News Nigeria correspondent reports that the elections experienced a low turn-out and marred with controversies over insufficiency of ballot papers in some polling units in parts of Jos North.

However, some of the polling units, electoral officers were held hostage by angry voters who wanted to cast their votes but could not due to shortage of voting materials.

Tthe development forced the electoral umpire to postpone the re-run elections till Sunday, in 13 polling units of Tudun Wada/Kabong ward, all in Jos North local government area of the state.
