Plateau Rerun Elections: ADP, LP Clinch Senate, Rep Seats

Elections into the Senatorial District were held in six local government areas of Bassa, Barkin-Ladi, Jos East, Jos North, Jos South and Riyom.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared The Action Democratic Party (ADP) candidate, Pam Dachungyang Nwadkwon and Daniel Asama Ago of the Labour Party (LP) as winner of the re-run election for Plateau North Senatorial and Jos North-Bassa Federal Constituency rerun election held on Saturday.

Declaring the results, the returning officer for Plateau North Senatorial District, Professor Nestor Chagok of the University of Jos, said Nwadkwon scored 122,442 votes to defeat his cloest rival Shafiu Muhammad Yakubu, who scored 53, 980 votes.   • Also, the returning officer for Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency, Professor James Damen also declared that Daniel Asama Ago of the Labour Party (LP) scored 66,422 votes, defeating the second Challenger, Muhammad Alkali of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), who scored 61, 670 votes.
  • The election results as presented to INEC revealed that Shafiu Muhammad Yakubu of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) came second with 53,980 votes, while Chris Giwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 39,132, and Gyang Zi of the Labour Party Party got 33,243 votes.
  • The breakdown of the results showed that ADP won in all five local government areas, namely, Bassa, Barkin-Ladi, Jos East, Jos North and Riyom, while NNPP won in Jos North.
