Rivers State Police Command has arrested a woman who posed as a Registered Nurse (RN) using fake Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (MMCN) certificate.
The fraud was uncovered by the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Rivers State Council, after the suspect, identified as Sunday Augusta from Uruk Anam Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, attempted to gain admission into post basic midwifery program at Rivers State College of Nursing, Emekuku.
During verification, Augusta claimed she was “trained” in a hospital in Aba, Abia State, and received her certificate from an unknown individual after just two years.
However, her certificate contained multiple errors, and her name was not found in the official MMCN records.
She will be charged to court after the conclusion of investigation, as critical stakeholders – Nursing and Midwifery Committee have been alerted.
