Three police men have been dismissed by the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) over offenses bordering on misuse of firearms, abuse of power, gross indiscipline and wastage of live ammunition.
The there officers were attached to a popular Kano based musician, Dauda Kahuta Rarara.
The trio, Inspr. Dahiru Shaibu, Sgt. Abdullahi Badamasi and Sgt. Isaiah Danladi.
The development followed a viral video of the officers shooting on air while on escort duties in course of their duty on Friday April 7, 2023 at Kahuta village, Katsinna State, the officers repeatedly fired shots from their official firearms into the air, despite being surrounded by civilians. The incident sparked angry reactions from many Nigerians on the social media and also drew the attention of the Police Public Relations Officers Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who said the men will be sanctioned.
