ASABA (9NEWS NIGERIA) – The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, has confirmed the arrest of a police inspector who was apprehended for shooting and injuring a young man during a stop-and-search operation in Delta state.

Reports emerged on Tuesday that a police officer stationed along the East-West Road in Ughelli, Delta state, allegedly fired a shot at a boy, resulting in injuries to his leg and abdomen.

In response to a tweet by a user named #Glofame on Twitter, who shared news of the officer’s arrest, the Police PRO Bright Edafe confirmed through his Twitter handle that the offending officer had indeed been arrested and is currently in custody.

Edafe tweeted, “The Nigeria Police Force does not and will never tolerate unprofessional conduct from any personnel.

“On this premise, the Commissioner of Police, CP Wale Abass, ordered the immediate detention of the erring police inspector.

“The injured victim is being treated. Meanwhile, The CP urges members of the public to remain calm, as he guarantees justice.”
