The Nigerian police have killed one unknown
gunmen that attacked the Onicha, Abaomege, and Ohaozara police stations, Ebonyi state which led to the death of some police officers.
The Ebonyi state police commissioner, CP Aliyu Garba, confirmed the death of the gang leader identified as Blood (real name unknown).
CP Aliyu explained that, in his mission to clear the criminals from the state, men of the command arrested two male suspected armed robbers and also recovered firearms, ammunition, and other incriminating items from their house in the Isu Onicha local government area of the state.
The command’s police public relations officer, PPRO, DSP Loveth Odah, in a statement on Monday, said the success was recorded on May 20, 2021.
According to her, at about 5 pm, Thursday, May 20, 2021 following the intelligence reports of movement of arms and ammunition and the report of armed robbers terrorising Isu, Onicha local government area, DSP Odah told newsmen, one Eluu Ekpehu Emmanuel was arrested. He was said to have made useful statements to the police and led police operatives to the house of their gang leader, popularly known as “Blood” (other names unknown), who is alleged to have been terrorising the area, and master minder of the various attacks on three police divisional headquarters in the area, namely Onicha, Abaomege, and Ohaozara.
According to her, the suspect and his group, on sighting the police, opened fire on the operatives who fought back, and that, in the process, Blood was apprehended with gunshot injuries while others escaped into the nearby bush with bullet wounds.
“Blood’s house and premises were immediately searched adding that one (1) double barrel English gun, with eleven live cartridges one (1) locally made single gun, one (1) riot police smoke gunner, stolen from Ohaozara police divisional headquarters when the division was attacked and on the 6th May 2021 were recovered.
“Other items recovered include, three (3) police bartons, one (1) hand grenade, one (1) canister of teargas, two (2) police belts, and two (2) police radio communication handset with chargers, all stolen from Onicha divisional headquarters which was also attacked and set ablaze on 4th February 2021.
She said four (4) Biafra flags and one (1) juju box were also found at his place, adding that
“the wounded suspect was immediately rushed to AE-Federal Teaching Hospital (AE-FETHA) Abakaliki for medical treatment, where he later gave up the ghost.
“The corpse has been deposited at the same hospital mortuary for preservation adding that the gang was responsible for the attacks on government facilities and the killing of security agents in the state.”
