Following the rumors making the rounds that Imo state governor has passed an executive order restricting Political parties not to carry out their election campaign at public facilities across the state, 9News Nigeria has brought this detailed report to oppose such false News.
In a media parley with the press, the governor of Imo state has assured all Political parties in the state a free enabling environment during election campaigns.
This is in continuation of ensuring the prevalence of Democracy and the Rule of Law in the State.
Hope Uzodinma futher admonished all Political Parties to go about their campaigns within the armpit of the Law.
The Governor said that no party would be denied access to space for their campaigns.
However, he instructed that all campaign organizations must write to the appropriate authorities and spaces available would be made accessible to them.
According to the Governor, “Where APC will campaign is where I want PDP to campaign, it’s where I want Labour party to campaign. After campaigns, we will give our people the opportunity to choose”.
The Governor frowned at the burning of the INEC office and facility and warned the perpetrators to desist from such undemocratic acts or be faced with the wrath of the Law.
He added that the success of democracy is a collective responsibility of all parties by behaving ourselves.
“Let us allow the Government of the people, by the people and for the people to thrive”. Governor Uzodimma stated.
In bold statement, Governor Uzodinma maintained that “No party would be denied access to space for their 2023 election campaigns in Imo state.
