Politicians And Citizens Must Stop Using Dollar Notes In Nigeria, VC Of IAUE, Prof. Okechukwu Begs Nigerians

• As Rivers State University’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nlerum Okogbule, declared the International Conference of the Department of Economics at Rivers State University.

The Ag. Vice Chancellor, of Ignatius Ajuru University, Port Harcourt, Professor Okechukwu Onuchukwu, has called on Nigerian politicians, leaders, and citizens to stop spending dollars in Nigeria instead of Naira.

This he said at the ongoing International Conference on Institutional Quality, Economic Reforms, diversification, and Sustainable Development in Nigeria by the Department of Economics, Rivers State University, Port Harcourt. (where he spoke as a lead Speaker).

Professor Okechukwu Onuchukwu said he will continue to advocate and tell Nigerian politicians to stop spending dollars in Nigeria to save the exchange rate.

He went further to recommend the Single Digit Loan Interest System to the Central Bank of Nigeria and other banks in Nigeria.

Declaring the international conference opened, the Vice Chancellor, of Rivers State University Prof. Nlerum Okogbule commended the Department of Economics for setting the pace in the faculty, for organizing the first and special international conference of the department, and said he will continue to support conferences in the University.

The Host and Head of Department, Department of Economics, Faculty of Social Science, Rivers State University, Prof. Dennis Brown Ewubare; in his welcome address said the first conference of the Department of Economics that focuses on ‘Institutional Quality, Economic Reforms, diversification, and Sustainable Development- The Role of Good Governance, security, Financial Stability, and Real Sector’ will foster economic reforms and diversification of the economy towards nation-building between the academic environment and the industry.

“…It’s on the record that this is the first of its kind in the faculty of Social Science and we are proud of the Department of Economics for always showing good example….” – he added.

The keynote speaker, Professor Willy Okowa, Dept. of Economics, University of Port Harcourt charged Nigerians to put their Faith into practice with works and not just praying for miracles.
