The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has reaffirmed that the Old Port Harcourt Refinery is fully operational, with active loading operations underway.
According to the chief Corporate communication officer Mr Olufemi Soneye, the Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Mele Kyari, made this statement during the commissioning of the NUPENG Towers in Lagos on Wednesday.
In his goodwill message, Kyari extended an open invitation to prominent lawyer and human rights activist Mr. Femi Falana and other skeptics to tour the refineries in Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna to verify their operational status.
Addressing controversies around blending practices, Kyari clarified that blending is a critical component of refining, essential to ensure products meet regional specifications.
“Without blending, off-spec products could damage vehicles. Refining processes globally involve blending to meet specific requirements for different countries or regions,” he stated.
Kyari commended NUPENG for the successful completion of its iconic NUPENG Towers and called for continued dialogue and collaboration between the union, NNPC Ltd, and the Federal Government.
He also highlighted the impact of Presidential interventions through Executive Orders, which have attracted investments and created job opportunities in the oil and gas sector.
