A pregnant woman and four others including an Okada rider, and three children have been killed on the spot during a clash between a motorist, Okada riders and some officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) in Okota, Lagos state.
9News Nigeria gathered that a Sienna car driver was caught driving on a one-way road and while the members of LASTMA tried to stop him, he zoomed off leading to a chase from the officers of the LASTMA.
A witness who narrated the story to 9News Nigeria said that a Sienna car driver was being chased by some officers of the LASTMA and in a bid to escape the chase, the driver swerved into a street hitting a pregnant woman, an okada rider, 3 children. The witness said the five involved victims died on the spot thereby provoking an angry mob to chase the LASTMA people, and killed one of them after cutting off his private part.
Angry mobs and okada riders went on a rampage seeking policemen and members of the LASTMA to unleash mayhem on them in retaliation to the incident.
Policemen from the Okota police station and Ambulances were sent to arrest the situation and rescue some other injured victims and members of the Nigerian police and LASTMA who were beaten up by the rampaging mob.
Efforts to ascertain more information from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) have not been successful at the time of making this report.
