The Presidency has dismissed as false reports circulating on social media claiming that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has replaced his Chief of Staff, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, with the Principal Private Secretary, Hakeem Muri-Okunola.
In an official statement issued on Christmas Day, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, described the reports as a fabrication aimed at misleading the public and creating unnecessary tension within government circles.
“There is absolutely no truth to this story. We advise Nigerians to disregard it entirely,” Onanuga stated.
He clarified that Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila remains the Chief of Staff to the President, while Hakeem Muri-Okunola continues to serve in his capacity as Principal Private Secretary.
According to the Presidency, no changes have been made to either position.
The statement further attributed the rumour to what it described as “mischievous purveyors of fake news,” urging media organisations and members of the public to always verify information from credible sources before sharing or publishing.
The clarification follows the circulation of multiple social media posts, some dated as early as December 24, which alleged a reshuffle in the Presidency.
The posts, accompanied by misleading graphics and so-called “breaking news” headlines, quickly gained traction online despite lacking official confirmation.
The Presidency reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accurate information dissemination.
