President Bola Tinubu has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, as the revered monarch marks his 71st birthday on October 20, 2024, which coincides with the eighth anniversary of his ascension to the throne.
The President lauded the Oba’s leadership, in a statement issued by Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy), Bayo Onanuga Today, emphasizing the peace and unity that have flourished in Benin since Ewuare II was crowned as the 40th Oba of Benin in 2016.
Tinubu highlighted the Oba’s distinguished diplomatic career, having served as Nigeria’s ambassador to several countries, including Angola, Sweden, Norway, and Italy, which has influenced his reign with wisdom and a global outlook.
The President particularly praised Ewuare II for his dedication to preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Benin Kingdom, especially through his successful efforts to recover priceless artefacts that hold deep historical and cultural significance.
The Oba’s advocacy for civic responsibility and participatory democracy, alongside his wise counsel to both public and private sector leaders, were also acknowledged as key contributions to the nation’s progress.
In his message, President Tinubu expressed his best wishes for the continued prosperity of the Benin Kingdom under Oba Ewuare II’s leadership and prayed for the well-being of the royal family.
