In response to multiple inquiries, I can confirm that His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, duly consulted the National Assembly before reaching his decision regarding Rivers State.
The leadership of the National Assembly met with the President and the National Security Adviser before the address, along with key security chiefs. During this meeting, they were fully briefed on the President’s intentions, and all present expressed their unanimous support.
Additionally, the President has formally transmitted a letter to the House of Representatives informing them of his decision and seeking approval by Section 305 of the Constitution. This letter will be read during the plenary session scheduled for Wednesday, March 19, 2025, with further legislative action to be debated and decided.
