The President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu is currently presiding over the 23rd meeting of the Federal Executive Council at the State House, in Abuja.
Tuesday’s meeting, the second leg of a two-day meeting, began when Tinubu arrived at the Council Chamber.
Seated are Vice President Kashim Shettima, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, the President’s Chief of Staff, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila and the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Didi Walson-Jack and some ministers and ministers of state.
Speaking on Monday, the Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, revealed that the meeting would spill into the next day due to a long backlog of memos, as the council approved 4.8 Billion Naira for the Presidential Treatment Programme providing 150,000 HIV treatment packs from February to May 2025.
Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Ali Pate, told reporters that the resolution followed talks on the implications of recent U.S. policy changes on Nigeria’s health programmes, particularly regarding HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria funding.
