Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South Senatorial District, has raised concerns over President Bola Tinubu’s appointments.
According to the Senator, the appointments violate the principle of federal character and need urgent correction.
Speaking during an interview on Arise News Television yesterday, the senator, who is a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), expressed disappointment that his comments would likely be met with personal attacks from Tinubu’s supporters, rather than sparking constructive dialogue on the issue.
“As a Nigerian, I have the right to voice this out, but Tinubu’s attack dogs will attack me and not the message. It is not personal,” Ndume stated.
He stressed that his observations were not born out of animosity but a genuine concern for equity, fairness, and national cohesion.
Ndume’s remarks reflects growing public concerns on whether President Tinubu’s cabinet and top-level appointments show the nation’s ethnic and regional diversity, as enshrined in the federal character principle of the Nigerian Constitution.
