Samuelson lwuoha, some of us have, by the GRACE OF GOD, gone a long way , especially in the journalism career. This much ado or much noise about the opposition on every issue in the state, these days, has become very childish, to say the least .
Recently, you were arrested by the DSS and detained. Some people, including the media personnel in the state , also raised the alarm about your arrest and detention . On that , you didn’t accuse the opposition. Even when you came out and issued a statement, the media also carried the release. You didn’t accuse the opposition.
Now you have begun to accuse the opposition over the media reports on the beating of the Punch Newspapers’ correspondent by security personnel , attached to the Government House . You also described the incident as a minor incident. This is very unfortunate.
How did the matter concern Fabian lhekwueme? As usual, he went and dished out rubbish targeted at the image of the Punch guy. He claimed that the pdp paid the guy 250k as bribe through his account with UBA. And knowing that the claims were false.
By doing such nauseating thing he only showed that he was irresponsible, no matter the way you had looked at it. By doing that , he had ridiculed the Government he is part of. He is not a good Ambassador of the Government . How did that concern the opposition?.
The Punch reporter consulted his lawyer over the blackmail to write lhekwueme, claiming N200million. How did it become the business of the opposition?.
You people have succeeded in creating a big monster called opposition, on your own. Perhaps, unknown to you people.
The issue has never been Fabian lhekwueme as a person but the wicked lies he deliberately told about a young man who were innocently doing his job, as a journalist.
If the issue was about lhekwueme as a person and any one else, the person would take on you , over many of the claims you made and you would discover that you had been deceived.
Let him swallow pride and apologise to the young man. Let me , for the sake of emphasis, agree with you that all you said about him were true , it was then , an aberration for him to condescend so low , to tell such petty lies against a young man who should be his younger brother .
Do you also know that the Commissioner for information and Strategy, had equally called the Editor of Punch Newspapers, to allege that the opposition had asked the Correspondent to write the story against the government. And the Editor was said to have given it to him raw, because they are familiar with such irritating claims by politicians against reporters .
Samuelson lwuoha, the person you have chosen to defend should be taught to know that blackmail is not part of media works. And they do not equally understand the proper meaning of the word, propaganda.
The same media you have now branded opposition had severally come to your rescue or stood for you. And you never saw it as opposition venture.
l led the media campaign against Col . Tanko Zubairu when he was the military Administrator of the State and soldiers attached to the Government House, had beaten the NUJ Chairman then, Mrs Oby Ekeagbai, at the gate of the Government House.
lt was big-time. l was the State Editor of Vanguard Newspapers that time. lt’s a long story. We were also accused of being used by those opposed to the government then.
Some of us would not afford to ignore such scenarios when they surface, because that won’t be the best of action.
Posterity and history would judge all of us. Then, the main, the main JUDGEMENT by GOD himself. So , it does not end here. And it is not only about us. We should always have all these, at the back of our minds when we are dealing with issues. Thank you. My name is Sam Onwuemeodo.
