The father of the late Mary Habila, Tanko Habila Wisdom, has called for the immediate release of his daughter’s body for burial, saying he does not want an autopsy to be conducted.
Speaking on the matter, Tanko said his only concern is to recover his daughter’s body so the family can give her proper burial.
“I am Tanko Habila Wisdom, the father of the late Mary Habila. I don’t have much to say in this case, all that I want is the body of my daughter”, he said.
According to him, the family has waited long enough for the release of the body, insisting that it should no longer be kept.
“You don’t keep the corpse of a little child for so long. That’s why I am here to say once and for all that I need the body of my daughter to take her for burial. That’s what I am standing on”, he stated.

The bereaved father also rejected the proposed autopsy, maintaining that he wants the body released without further delay.
“I don’t want the autopsy and that’s why I am demanding the body of my daughter so we can bury her now”, he said.
Tanko further noted that the family has maintained a cordial relationship with the Minister of Works and with his daughter’s workplace, adding that they do not support the proposed autopsy.
“We have been having a very cordial relationship with the Minister of Works, her workplace, and we don’t want that autopsy they are talking about”, he added.
He also stressed that he does not suspect anyone of involvement in his daughter’s death.
“I am not suspecting anybody because death can occur at anytime. Even as we are standing here now, one can fall here and die”, he said.
