A Nigerian human right activist and lawyer, Reno Omokri has ADMONISHED PRESIDENT BUHARI on his policies to salvage NIGERIA but however regretted the reasons behind its set backs.

On Thursday, the president visited the heat zone MAIDUGURI to give sense of feelings to the inhabitants of this area and the visit truly sparked alot of reactions.

Information revealed to us was that Reno Omokri reaction to PRESIDENT BUHARI’S VISIT was balanced and useful to the country even as NIGERIA is facing a lot of Security challenge.

Meanwhile, 9News Nigeria investigative team has revealed that Reno is a descendant of the 7th Olu of Warri Olu Atuwatse I (Dom Domingos) who ruled over the Warri kingdom in Delta state Nigeria between 1625 – 1643.

Omokri was the host of Transformation with Reno Omokri, a Christian teaching TV show broadcast (for one season) on San Francisco’s KTLN and Detroit’s Impact Network.

Our source told 9News that Reno Omokri has alot of advocacies and it’s causes as detailed below:

Buses for Democracy:

During Nigeria’s 2019 General Elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission postponed the election previously scheduled to hold on Saturday February 16, 2019 by a week.

As the election postponement was announced only 5 hours before the polls were to open, many Nigerians were angry having traveled at huge expense to vote only to be frustrated.

As a result of their frustrations, Omokri initiated a program he tagged #BusesForDemocracy, which provided free transportation to voters to their polling unit irrespective of who they intended to vote for.[10]

Free Leah Sharibu movement:

Omokri is the founder of the Free Leah Sharibu movement, which is a media campaign advocating for the freedom of Leah Sharibu,a Christian girl who was kidnapped by the radical Islamic sect, Boko Haram, on February 19, 2018.

Recall that Boko Haram offered to release Sharibu if she would convert to Islam, but she refused to renounce her Christian faith.

On April 3, 2019, former British Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson MP, unveiled the #FreeLeahSharibu customised clothing line at his office at Parliament, SW1.

Through the clothing line and his book, Mr. Omokri has raised over £4000 for Miss Sharibu’s parents.

On April 11, 2019, Omokri wore the customised #FreeLeahSharibu tracksuit over Mount Everest in Nepal.

On Saturday, November 2, 2019, Omokri was honoured with the Humanitarian of the Year award at the Hollywood Weekly Magazine Film Festival, at Warner Brothers Studio in Burbank, California, for his work on the #FreeLeahSharibu campaign.

ENDSARS :

Reno Omokri successfully supported a campaign to unfollow Nigeria’s president, Muhammad Buhari on Twitter. His campaign #UnfollowBuhari, led to a 100,000 drop in the Nigerian President’s Twitter following in just 3 hours.

HarassBuhariOutofLondon:

On April 2, 2021, Omokri led a series of protests in London to force General Buhari to return to Nigeria, instead of relying on the UK for healthcare. Mr Buhari had flown into London the previous day.

In his recent post I sighted this interesting write up below:

“I commend General Muhammadu Buhari for visiting Maiduguri. This is a good move.It is a strategic gesture.

“To be honest, Buhari’s behaviour is still problematic here and there. But in the last few weeks, I have seen marked improvements in communication and interaction and project delivery.

“The visit to Lagos and the delivery of the Lagos-Ibadan railway was most praiseworthy. I not only commend PRESIDENT Buhari. I also commend Rotimi Amaechi.

“The Executive Orders granting financial autonomy to State Legislatures and Judiciaries is a good step and worthy of praise. I wish it were made a constitutional provision so a future President does not reverse it.

“And this visit to Maiduguri is significant. The residents of the town have felt abandoned for a while. Buhari’s visit will reassure them that they are not on their own, or forgotten, and it has the added benefit of motivating our troops.

“The only counsel I will give to the President would be for him to ensure that at least one of the other two arms of government is headed by a Southerner. It is very wrong, and against the principe of Federal Character for the Three Arms of government to be headed by Northern Muslim males.

“It is affecting national unity and cohesion and the North would not like it if it was done to them by a Southern Christian President.

I would also counsel him to visit anywhere in the Southeast, and reassure them of his commitment to their well being in Nigeria, and then to instruct his media aides to take a more conciliatory tone when dealing with opposition. That ‘dot in a circle’ comment has really done massive damage to the idea of One Nigeria. He needs to heal the wounds his words caused.

Finally, the President would do well to prove to non Fulanis that he does not have a Fulani irredentist agenda by treating killer herdsmen as he is treating other groups who threaten our national security,

We actually want Buhari to succeed. He has already won a second term by hook or crook (more by crook, but he has won it anyway). The situation is different from pre 2019. He is not a threat to the opposition. Anyone who does not want him to succeed is not wise.

“I want Buhari to succeed. He will get my commendation if he does well. However, I will oppose him if he goes off track.
