The Police command in Lagos State has arrested ten notorious armed robbers that have been terrorizing residents of Ayobo – Ipaja in Lagos.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Imohimi Edgal disclosed this to newsmen on Monday that the suspects broke into their victim’s houses at night and carted away their belongings.
The suspects who were arrested by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) include Abomi James (34), Omokaro Efe (48), Samuel Shokunbi (34), Ahmed Waheed (37), Augustine Uchenna (47) Joseph Uzuazomaro (31), Chukwudi Onyemara (27), Melvin Umeh (33), Nisma Uttah (33), and Udoh Benedict (39).
CP Edgal, while parading the suspects noted that his command was out to combat crime in Lagos State.
He also issued out warnings to robbers stealing cars at gun point, saying that those who steal parked cars would no longer find it easy as the police is ready to track and locate such vehicles stolen and return them to their owners.
He also revealed that six vehicles were recovered from some buyers in Anambra State.
The vehicles include: Totoya Camry (FKJ 715 ES), Toyota Camry (FGG 636 MC), Toyota Matrix (EPE 429 DJ), Mercedes Benz 4matic (KRD 68 ES), Acura MDX (EKY 534 BS) and Toyota Camry (LSR 742 EW).
CP Edgal said that the suspects would be charge to court as soon as investigations were concluded.
One of the robbers and the gang leader, Nisma Uttah said that they meet and resides in Ajegunle but operate in Ayobo and Ipaja.
Uttah said that for every operation, he usually carried out reconnaissance survey of the area, mapped out buildings they intend to attack before visiting the residents at night.
He further explained that the gang ususally gained entrance into the building by scaling the fence or break part of the wall.
Uttah said they have someone who take the vehincles to the buyer in Onitsha the following day after they might have changed the registration number.
