Since the Invasion on Abia Cattle Market, there is great tension percieved among the dealers of cattle from other tribes particularly the IGBOs within the market and the state in general.

Abia state was hit with sudden killing of cattle dealers on Tuesday dated 15-02-2022 notwithstanding the good efforts of Ikpeazu’s Government to fight Insecurity in Abia State Nigeria.

9News Nigeria Owerri who went to confirm the situation report in Ukwa East Abia State gathered that a looming reprisal attack may break out within the Hausa Community and the IGBOs in the state particularly among the cattle dealers environment.

But the Immediate intervention of Abia State Government has calm the situation as at the time of this report by 9News Nigeria.

However, gunmen late Tuesday invaded the newly constructed cattle market in Omumauzor in the Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State.

The state government confirmed that eight (8) people were killed during the attack.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Eze Chikamnayo, in a statement on Wednesday, 16-02-2022, vowed that the state government would bring the perpetrators to book.

He said, “On Tuesday, February 15, 2022, around 11.35pm, some yet-to-be-identified hoodlums allegedly invaded traders at the New Cattle Market in Omumauzor, in the Ukwa West Local Government Area of our dear state.

“The government responded swiftly by mobilising the various security agencies to the scene that night to secure the lives and property of the innocent traders and fish out the assailants.

Northern youths have therefore threatened to launch back at the cattle dealers market across the state as a sign of expression of anger and hatred metted on their brothers in Abia State.

This is a call for settlement and more vigilance while GOVERNOR Ikpeazu’s Administration has swung into action to unravel the killers.
